From the Artist’s Desk: I am a mother, a reader, a story teller, and a student forever. The odyssey of life intrigues me, which led me to expressing myself through shared journeys, stories & moments in a form that I sincerely enjoyed – a contemporary adaptation of LIPPAN AND MANDALA ART. The beauty of my artwork has been the unique story that each piece has held in its motifs, in the colours, and in its design. Description – Lippan Art is traditional mural craft of Kutch, Gujarat, India. Contemporary adaptation of this art now uses mirrors of various shapes in motifs, they’re called ‘aabhla’. Wooden boards made out of MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) are used to make the art more portable. Mandala in Sanskrit means ‘Circle’. Mandala Art is drawn from the central point and is surrounded by beautiful patterns and decorations that are connected and interrelated. A combination of Lippan & Mandala techniques, motifs & style is used in artwork created for Maya by Monika. Traditional Artwork of India. Lippan Art & Mandala.
